It was pretty freaking awesome! The kids had a great time and so did my wife and I. I took about 1400 photos during our 6 days there, so, I’ve begun sorting through them and editing/cleaning them up. Here is a quick random sampling from our first 2-3 days there, just some that I thought turned out really well. These were taken with either my 50mm, 18-105mm, or 11-16mm lens. The 11-16 I rented from LensRental.com. Pretty affordable, and the lens was really nice. Anyway, expect a couple more follow on posts with more disney photos, but for now, enjoy these!

I like these, especially the ones of the black lab and the banner photo. I think the lab photo could be in a dog calendar, and the banner photo is just cool because of the high contrast and the way the pier seems to stretch forever into the photo. She plants dill in her garden specifically to attract these guys.
I thought these turned out very nice, so I wanted to get them up here for others to see. I also included a photo taken with the Tokina 11-16mm lens I am renting for a trip I am taking. Anyway, let me know what you think.

As we played, I started to think I could take some pretty decent photos with the right lighting. All of these were shot with my D7000, and Nikon 50mm F1.8 lens, in aperture priority mode. Various apertures were used, mainly around F4 and F8, and once wide open at 1.8 for some DOF shots. I used a small, goose neck, desk lamp positioned above, and to the left to light most of these. Everything was shot using my tripod (my new one with the pistol grip, which is AWESOME!), and my remote shutter release. Anyway, I know these are a bit arty, but I like the way they turned out. I took these with a combo of my 18-105mm lens, and my 70-300mm Tamron lens. I think they turned out really well. Also, I know that my daughter has food all over her face in this picture, but I snapped it while she was eating and I included it here because of how blue her eyes were. The hornet photos were taken of a nest that is hanging from my garage door, and the finch photo was taken through my sliding glass door, of the finch feeder in my backyard. The others were taken in my front yard. Anyway, take a look, and drop a comment or two.

I liked how these turned out. I pretty much just shot things that caught my eye. Most of these are SOC (straight out of camera), but a couple have some post processing. The more I get used to my D7000, the more I like it. I’m finally starting to capture the type of photos I want, and the low light performance can’t be beat. Went swimming at my Mother-In-Laws pool with the family, played baseball with my son in the backyard, and hung out while my kids rode bikes out front. Couldn’t ask for a better day. These are some shots I captured today. My 2 favorites are my twins “playing baseball” (my son and I had ditched our gear outside, when we ran in for some drinks. We returned to see this, so I had to take a photo), and the sunset shining through one of the birthday balloons from the party yesterday. For some reason, I just think there is something about this photo. I really dig the colors and the way the sun lights up the bottom of the balloon. Anyway, on with the photos!

It was pretty cool, and was my first chance to try some shots using off camera lighting. I don’t think I did too bad, but it sure made me learn that:
A) I have a lot to learn
B) Compared to the people there, my equipment is peanuts
C) Post processing is your friend.
